Temporarily Closed to Submissions
Paper Crow is a bi-annual publication, appearing in March and September of each year. We are open to submissions from March 1 through May 31, and again from October 1 through December 31.
What we want: We are open to original poetry (no reprints please) of any subject, any style, including—but not limited to—horror, fantasy, dark fantasy, SF, magical realism, humor, etc. We love words and we love language in all its forms—the mythical, the lyrical, the beautiful, the emotional, the cynical, etc. What is most important to us is the quality of the poem. We are very picky about rhyming poetry—it must be well done, please do not force the rhyme. If in doubt, query, or just send it along, we’ll let you know.
A word about length: We are open to poetry of various lengths, and will look at longer poems; however, shorter (less than 50 lines) is generally better. This does not mean we won’t look at longer pieces but please be reasonable. Don’t send us an epic.
How to send it: E-mail up to five poems per submission to firstname.lastname@example.org. Send your work in the body of the e-mail, no attachments, please. Also, send along a short bio and contact information, including your real name and pseudonym, if applicable. What can we say? We like to know who you are. We’re nosy that way.
Response Time: We hope to respond to each submission within four to six weeks. We post frequent updates on the website and will let you know of any changes in response time.
Payment: Yes, we realize this is the important part! Our going rate is $.25 a line with a $5.00(US) minimum payment. Also, you will receive two copies of the issue your poetry is in. Payment will be made upon publication.
Query. You can shoot us an e-mail at queries (at) elektrikmilkbathpress (dot) com, or use our fantabulous contact page.
We can’t wait to hear from you!
